Nathan had his 2 week check up today. Poor guy did not enjoy it! No shots, but he doesn't like being naked, which he was for most of the appointment :(. Plus he was tired and I just wish he didn't have to go! But we survived, and Carl was able to meet us there. He has gained a little weight (20 grams a day ish) and Dr. McCarthy said that was good. I will take him in again next week to get him weighed to make sure that he is getting what he needs.

Nathan Daniel Kent
We welcomed our precious son Nathan Daniel Kent into this world on Thursday, July 25th at 1:03 am. He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz, and was 19 1/2 inches long. He came out with a head full of dark hair and we are so in love!
It started on Wednesday morning around 7. I was having contractions every 1/2 hour (very minor) for about 4 hours. However, when I sat down for lunch, they completely went away. UNTIL 6 p.m. that night. Carl was still at work and I started getting fairly strong contractions every 4 min. apart. I called him around 6:30 and told him he should probably come home and I also let my mom know what was going on. by the time he got home around 7 the contractions were even stronger and about 2 1/2 min apart.
At 8:00 p.m. Carl called the hospital and let them know what was going on, and they told us to come in. We arrived at the hospital at 8:30 and I was in a lot of pain. However, when they checked me I was at 0, but my cervix was very thin. They had walk around for awhile and then checked me again. Still at a 0 until during the check my water broke and I went from 0 to 4 in a matter of seconds. and we learned that it had meconium (baby poop) in it and that Nathan would need to be checked right away. (around 10:30 p.m.) Carl called my parents and told them to come to the hospital!
The anesthesiologist came in shortly thereafter and I received an epidural. Since they hadn't checked me again before the epidural they checked me after and I was at an 8 (around 11 p.m.). Carl called my parents again and they were hoping that they would make it in time!
The nurse came in around 12:30 to check me and didn't need to, Nathan was starting to arrive! She told me not to push because we had to wait for the pediatrician to get there so he could check Nathan as soon as he arrived. My parents made it to the room at 12:55 a.m . . . 8 minutes prior to Nathan being born.
We are truly blessed by this amazing miracle!
39th week
This post is a little late, but I was hoping to write after my scheduled dr. appointment on Thursday the 25th. My 39th week of being pregnant was long and short :). Carl & I were walking a lot to try and get the little man out so we could meet him. We walked almost every evening for at least a 1/2 hour sometimes upward of an hour. It was nice to get out of the house and spend some alone time together. I had some Braxton Hicks contractions, but nothing major until . . .

38 week check up
My mom came to visit yesterday and so she and Carl went with me to my weekly appointment. Everything is continuing to go smoothly. All my vitals were good and the baby's heartbeat is great! I am 70% effaced and at 1 cm dilated. The midwife also did something that might make me go into labor a little sooner, and I had a couple of contractions last night and continue to have lots of cramping. Carl and I went on a couple of walks last night and I will get on the treadmill again today to see if that will speed things up a bit. I'm anxious to meet our little one, but am resting in God's timing.

My friend, Jerelyn, took some more maternity pictures for us with Abby in some of them! It was a beautiful day and lots of fun. Here are a few that she has sent to me, and I can't wait to see the rest!

36 Weeks
We are less than a month away (hopefully) from meeting our little boy. I am doing well, but definitely ready to meet this little one. With all the horrible heat (110) we have been having, my feet are swelling like crazy. So, I've tried to cut back on salt and drink even more water . . . yesterday it seemed to help. I've been having a few Braxton hicks, but nothing serious and today I am feeling very exhausted. I'm trying to keep the house semi clean just in case the little boy decides to come early (fingers crossed) and in a few days he will be considered full term! YAY!! The nursery is ready, and Carl & I went to the baby stores last weekend and got a few "essentials" to make me feel better.
I am in the process of getting the bag together, so we'll see what all ends up in it. I don't want to over pack, but I don't want to not have something either.
We were supposed to head up to my parents on Sunday for the first service in the new church building, but unfortunately with all my swelling, I decided that it was probably a wiser choice for me to stay home. So, I'm disappointed about that, but there will be much celebrating from far away!
